Using evidence to help make changes happen at a local level can benefit from having an independent or peer guide to offer support and challenge. EIF is working with the LGA, PHE and DfE to support local change leaders.
EIF is inviting every local authority area in England to use the new early years maturity matrix and validation process to set a baseline this winter for the local maternity and early years system, as part of the local response to the impact of Covid-19 on families with young children.
The Local Government Association has partnered with the DfE and EIF on an early years peer challenge programme, Delivered in 30 local areas between 2018 and 2020, the programme will reach a new cohort from 2021.
EIF will offer enhanced support to a small number of the local areas taking part in peer challenges in 2021/22. The support will use EIF's suite of planning tools before and after the challenge, spread over a 12-month period.
